FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 24, 2013
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –The Alabama Policy Institute (API) continues a 24-year commitment to be a valuable resource in public policy for the citizens and legislators of the state of Alabama. To further support that dedication and increase capacity and effectiveness, API is pleased to announce the following staff expansion:
Tom Bradford, former chairman of API’s Board of Directors and Managing Chairman of API, will serve the organization in a day-to-day capacity in the role of Interim President and CEO. Bradford previously operated Bradford & Co., a food brokerage business in Alabama; served on the boards of SouthTrust Bank and Mrs. Stratton’s Salads; and is an inductee into the Alabama Academy of Honor.
In accepting the position, Bradford noted, “I look forward to serving the Alabama Policy Institute as interim president. We have an exceptional staff on board who will continue to promote conservative solutions to the challenges we face as a state and nation. I could not be more pleased with the work we are doing and the direction we are headed as an organization.”
Former president and CEO Gary Palmer will move into the role of Chief Development Officer where he will focus on fundraising efforts for API that support the mission and extend the message of limited government, fiscal responsibility and strong families across the state.
Katherine Green Robertson joined the organization in April as Senior Policy Counsel with an emphasis on communicating API’s policy work to decision makers in Washington and Montgomery. Robertson will work with legislators to promote conservative public policy solutions grounded in API’s fact-based research. Robertson is a graduate of Auburn University and the Alabama School of Law. She is also a member of both the Tennessee and the Alabama Bars.
In October, Brandon Demyan joined API as Policy Counsel after serving as law clerk for the Hon. Michael G. Graffeo of the Alabama 10th Judicial Circuit. Demyan is a graduate of Auburn University and Cumberland School of Law.
API is the leading conservative think tank in Alabama dedicated to the time-tested principles of limited government, free markets, and strong families. For more information, visit www.alabamapolicy.org.
