Birmingham, Ala. – Today (May 5, 2021), Donald Trump, Jr. tweeted his opposition to Alabama’s gambling and lottery package calling it, as API has highlighted, a “special interest giveaway” for bad actors.
Just yesterday, API’s Chief Policy Officer and General Counsel Phil Williams spoke on this issue before the House Committee on Economic Development and Tourism. In his testimony (available here), he revealed how the bill creates amnesty for bad actors, creates no-bid contracts for gambling licensure, embeds the names of businesses in our constitution, and abdicates leadership.
The legislature is likely to take up the measure, which is a “no” vote on API’s legislative scorecard, tomorrow.
