An essential aspect of state policy is that it is implemented in a reasonable, efficient, and effective manner. Good policy is worthless if the government is run badly.
API’s desire is to see Alabama’s leaders consistently govern with excellence. For much of our state’s history, this has not been the case. Corruption has grown unfettered in Montgomery and kickbacks to family members of government leaders and bureaucrats are not surprising.
Current and future leaders should purpose to change this reality and make our state government one that is run with honor and in view of the people it exists to serve–the residents of this great state. A government that is being run well will give tax dollars back to residents as often as possible, be fully transparent in its operations for view by the press and the public, and be innovative in ways it can serve Alabama.
